FAQs

When does the club meet?

Club members meet on Sundays at 9am and Wednesdays at 6.30pm.

Do you meet on any other days or times?

Members often meet up and run in smaller groups throughout the week.

Where does the club meet?

We run from the South Moorlands Leisure Centre, Allen Street, Cheadle, ST10 1HJ

Where do members run?

We have the advantage of easy access to stunning cross country & road running routes in Cheadle and the surrounding areas.  On winter nights there are safe routes around the town.

Members compete in local and national road races, the North Staffs Cross Country League and also fell races. Not all members race, some just run for fitness, to lose weight or as a fun leisure activity!

How long do you run for?

There are people at all different levels of ability. For club runs groups form based on people’s requirements for that day.

Will I be able to keep up?

The club has members of all abilities, from just about fit to the superfit, twenty something to seventy something.  For club runs we usually split up into smaller groups catering for different abilities. Whichever group you run in you will not be left behind.

Do you have any beginner specific days?

Not directly, but members often meet for short runs throughout the week and they would be more than pleased to run with new runners. Email us and we will try to organize this for you.

You don’t have to sign up straight away, join us on our club runs and try us for a month and if you like running with us then become a full member!

Are new members made welcome?

We pride ourselves on being a friendly club and we welcome new members irrespective of age, sex or ability.

What part do members play in the running of the club?

Regular committee meetings are held at which the running of the club is discussed.  The Club A.G.M. is held in September and all members are encouraged to attend to elect the club officers and committee and also to put forward their views on the running of the club.

Does the club stage any races?

The club stages two road races, the Cheadle Spring 5 in March and the Cheadle 4 in July and also a veterans’ invitation cross country in August.  In addition handicap races are staged for club members in the summer and also the winter.

What role does the club play in the local community?

Over the years the club has helped raise many thousands of pounds for local charities.  Each year donations are made to local charities from the proceeds of the Cheadle 4 road race, whilst specific charity runs are also organized such as the 25 Hours Run in 2011 that raised over £4250 for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice.

Is the club affiliated to local and national organisations?

The club is a member of Staffs AAA, the Cheadle and District Sports Council and is affiliated to UK Athletics.  The affiliation of the club to these organisations ensures that we are kept advised of all news and events concerning the organisation and administration of the running governing bodies.
